Germany’s capital Berlin’s secondary international airport, is Berlin Schönefeld Airport. Near the town of Schonefeld in the state of Brandenburg, it is 18 km (11 mi) southeast of Berlin. Out of the other two airports in Berlin, this is smaller than Berlin Tegel Airport, and it also acts as a base for EasyJet and Ryanair. In 2017, its main focus was European metropolitan and leisure destinations; it expanded its customer base. That year their services were used by 12.9 million passengers that traveled through their airport.
Schönefeld Airport has four terminals. The four terminals were A, B, C, D. However, as of April 2020, their names have been changed to K, L, M, Q to avoid confusion between the names of the new Berlin-Brandenburg Airport’s terminal sections. You can find these four terminals; K, L, M, Q beside each other, although they do have separate landside areas. They are connected through a joint airside concourse. The Q terminal does not have any check-in facilities; the sole function this performs is for passengers to be able to clear security checks and be able to enter the airside boarding gates. There are a few shops. These include duty-free shops, newsstands, some fast-food restaurants, and an airline lounge.
Schönefeld Airport has many options for car parking that you can choose from depending on your convenience, as they are mostly located close by to both of SXF Airport’s terminal buildings. The Airport (SXF) car parking facilities use three diverse tariffs. These include short term, long term, and undercover airport car parking. The spaces that are nearest to the terminal zones are reserved for those who have disabilities.
There are many different multi-story car parks available for parking purposes. These are quite near to the terminal as well as well-handled and managed. APCOA Parking is in charge of all the car parks and bookings.
To get to the airport, you can use the Autobahn exit Schönefeld South (Süd) at the A113 junction if traveling from the northern direction to the airport. Coming from the south, motorists heading to the airport should leave the A117 at the Waltersdorfer Dreieck.
Rates differ considerably between the different parking facilities. If you book four weeks in advance, you get cheaper rates in all of them.
At Berlin Schönefeld Airport (SXF), you can easily find short-term car parking. It is near the terminal building and within the P3 airport car park. Every 20 minutes, a fee is charged for the parking space. There is a maximum daily charge.
P3 is a multi-story car park. It is linked to the terminal through shuttle bus services that are free of cost. It is a 7-minute shuttle ride. These lead to Terminal B; the distance from P3 to Terminal B is 6 km away. The passengers are picked up and dropped off in front of the terminal—parking in P3 costs 19.00 euros per day, including Value Added Tax.
At Berlin Schönefeld Airport, the P2 is at about a distance of one minute by foot to the terminal. It is located right behind Terminal A. Parking here costs 59.00 euros per day, including value-added tax. P2 is 70 meters away from the terminal, so it is quite convenient for passengers.
P1, P5, P6, and P11 are all the car parks for long-term car parking. All of which are within easy reach of Schönefeld SXF Airport’s terminal buildings. Parking facility P6 is between Terminal D/Departure and Terminal D/Arrivals buildings. There are airport and car park staff available to guide you otherwise. These long term airport car parks offer good charges with great value. Tariffs are applicable on an hourly basis, with maximum daily and weekly charges.
The P6 car park also handles economy parking within 300 meters of the terminals. If you want to park your car for a day here, parking costs 29.00 euros, including value-added tax. P6 is at a distance of 4 minutes by foot to the terminal.
Schönefeld Airport consists of undercover parking as well. It is in their multi parking garage P4.
This car park P4 is located just behind Terminal B. P4 is for multi-story comfort parking. It is at a distance of 200 meters from the terminals. However, security is a top priority here just as much as in all other car parks at Schonefeld. It has video surveillance to ensure your vehicles are safe and protected from any harm at all times. The charges for parking in P4 are 34.00 euros a day, including value-added tax.
As P4 is a multi-story car park, it has levels, on Level 1 the car park offers motorists extra-wide spaces (3.30 meters approx.). Parking here costs 44.00 euros per day, including value-added tax.
There are spaces kept separately for the disabled. They are at a walking distance of 5 minutes from the airport. However, these allocated spaces can only be accessed by those that hold the necessary documents/permits. These spaces are near the entrances to each terminal section in car parks P52 (Terminal sections L/K) and P56 (Terminal sections M). The car park is connected to Schönefeld station via a free shuttle service every 30 minutes.
There are several services available at the airport. Read below to find:
The airport has shuttle services where the bus takes routes between parking garage P3 and the airport. There is a bus stop at Terminal B, from where the bus leaves.
If you plan on staying for a short time, the parking costs € 3 per 15 minutes and € 72 for a day. There are online options available from where you can book your preferred parking zone for a space in P4, P6, and P3. You will get economical and budget-friendly prices compared to the total amount you would have to pay if you were to purchase a spot on your arrival.
Schoenefeld provides rental services as well. Avis, Budget, Enterprise, National, Alamo, Europcar, Hertz, Dollar, Thrifty, Sixt, and Buchbinder, are the eleven rental companies available. The offices of the providers are located opposite to Terminal A.
They offer a wide network of charging points for electric vehicles. You can find the following list of APCOA PARKING charging points for your convenience beforehand on their website.
Charging stations are free of cost for all short-term and contract parking customers.
