ARTIS ZOO

ARTIS is a zoo in the center of Amsterdam, acronym for Natura Artis Magistra. It is the Netherlands ‘ oldest zoo also being one of Europe’s oldest zoos. Besides the zoo, there is also an aquarium and a planetarium at ARTIS. Moreover, ARTIS also has an arboretum and an art collection that is quite big and candy to the eyes.

Opening Hours

The Royal Zoo of ARTIS Amsterdam is open daily, including holidays. The usual opening time on weekdays is 9 am to 6 am, however on holidays such as the 31st of December; the zoo is open from 9 am to 4 pm.

Location

Located in the center of Amsterdam, ARTIS is readily reachable by public transport. You can park at the ARTIS parking unit if you’re coming by your vehicle.

Directions By Public Transports

ARTIS Amsterdam Royal Zoo stops at tram 14 from Amsterdam Central Station. Tram 7 and 19 stops are just a short walk away from ARTIS. Waterlooplein is the closest subway station as ARTIS is a 10-minute walk away.
On-time peak periods, such as college holidays and public holidays, the neighborhoods of ARTIS car park as well as multi-story vehicle parks and highways rapidly fill up. Hence, traveling by public transit on peak days is a better idea. So if you’re going to spend less time on traffic jams and more time exploring ARTIS.

How to get the membership?

Go to the closest Micropia or ARTIS ticket counter to get your membership. One of the ARTIS employees will take your image and create your membership pass on the spot, so you can immediately begin relishing the membership advantages. For ages 3-17, the charges for only ARTIS membership are€ 51.00 while the fees for ARTIS and micropia both are € 61.00.

How to pay for the membership?

Eight weeks before your present registration ends, you can pay the premium for the next year. This can be performed promptly and effortlessly via your My ARTIS profile or at the ticket office of ARTIS. If you pay by bank transfer, four weeks before the beginning of the new registration year, the premium will be subtracted from your budget. My ARTIS is currently only accessible in the Netherlands.

Parking

ARTIS Amsterdam Royal Zoo has its parking facility. Visitors may benefit from discounted parking charges. The parking facility is just 150 meters away from ARTIS Amsterdam Royal Zoo’s primary entrance. Several parking spaces for the disabled are available.

Parking tickets are available at the ticket window, the parking ticket machine at the main entrance, or in the ARTIS shop, upon presentation of your admission ticket. The parking fees for ARTIS royal zoo between 8.30 am until 0.00 am is € 12.50 is for the existing members while the parking fee for non-members is € 15.00. The parking fee for other users is € 6.00 per hour, payable at the parking ticket system at the entrance to the car park.

Micropia travelers can stop at the ARTIS car park and benefit from discounted parking charges.

Wheelchair Users

Wheelchairs are readily available on the ARTIS grounds. The ticket desk has a small number of wheelchairs, and you can get them after paying a safety deposit of € 1,00. However, wheelchairs cannot be booked in advance and can only be taken from the venue.

The parking lot has five parking places for people with disabilities, which are subject to standard ARTIS parking charges.

Chaperone Policy

All visitors who cannot visit ARTIS on their own due to any disabilities or other problems can bring along a chaperone free of charge. According to the ARTIS chaperone strategy. Children and babies

All bathrooms have the facilities for baby change. The Twee Cheetahs hotel and the Planetarium café can assist you to heat the baby food. Next to the playground, the little house behind the Camel Field has a breastfeeding space. You can avail this facility by picking the key or this area, from the ticket office. At the end of Papegaaienlaan, you can discover carts appropriate for kids aged two to five. These can be used; a deposit of € 2 is needed.

Animals and pets

In collaboration with the Dutch service dog user association (Stichting Gebruikers Assistentiehonden), a dedicated route was intended for tourists with a service dog. This path supports the protection of ARTIS service dogs as well as livestock. Only service dogs who have had all the necessary vaccines are given access. Smoking

Smoking on the premises of ARTIS is not permitted. Second-Hand smoke is dangerous for the animals and the environment at ARTIS. However, visitors are allowed to smoke outside the ARTIS zoo. They will get a stamp from the entrance employees that will enable them to be re-admitted to the ARTIS Royal Zoo, once they are done smoking.
